Stallone photo in Warhol exhibition

By Webmaster on September 23, 2011 / 1 min read

Sylvester Stallone is among the many celebrity subjects captured by celebrated artist Andy Warhol.

A Polaroid shot of the American actor is part of the ‘Andy in the Valley’ exhibit at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania until December 11, 2011.

The exhibit highlights the work of an artist who surrounded himself with celebrities, free thinkers, bohemian street people, poets and intellectuals and chose to document their nuances with natural, unedited photography. Photos taken with a 1972 Polaroid Big Shot camera of Sylvester Stallone, Maria Shriver, Howdy Doody and John Denver are featured among headshots of unidentified women, children and inanimate objects.

The works were donated through The Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program to Lehigh University, Lafayette College and Muhlenberg College. The program was launched in 2007, commemorating the start of the Warhol Foundation and the 20th anniversary of Warhol’s death. Each school will keep their part of the collection when the exhibit ends Dec. 11.
